“Growing up I was just a regular girl. I was active , I was healthy. Things changed for me once I became a mum. Like all mums, my boys came first, I didn’t have time to focus on me. I would go to work, come home and turned all my attention to my family. Like most young families Maccas was our favourite restaurant because the kids got to play and my husband and I got to chill. Overtime however I became very unhealthy. I started putting on weight, I suffered from regular migraines I had back pains.... I was generally unwell. My wake up call came from my GP at my annual check up. She said “Michelle, do you know you have put on 1kg per year over the last 10 years, if you continue this way you’re going to be overweight“.With this realisation I knew I had to become serious about looking after ME! I was already training with Josie so when I confided in her about my health scare she asked if I was interested in being part of the Transformation team. The first 12 week transformation was not an easy road. Being Chinese rice and noodles are the main staples of my diet. So I struggled to stay on track, I would give in to my cravings and consequently I didn’t see results. Part of my 2017 New Years resolution was my determination to stay on track and get the results I wanted. As Josie says “You can’t get the results if you don’t do the work “ I ended 2018 very positively. I feel good about myself. With Josie’s support I was able to achieve my weight loss goal, develop strategies to incorporate food preperation into my culture and my busy lifestyle. I got stronger which made me more confident in my appearance.”2019 is looking very promising for me.

Last year was my first transformation. My goal was to be photographed in a crop top - and I achieved it! I felt so strong as I’ve always been a yo-yoer when it comes to exercise and diet. Lack of education on health and fitness has always left me going about it the wrong way - I’d starve myself, fill up on water so I didn’t feel like eating, would spend 2 hours at the gym at a time, never lifted any more than 5kg and had a self-destructive internal dialogue. I was thin and unhealthy on the inside and outside.A few years ago I was introduced to Josie. At the time I had done a total 180 - I’d put on lots of weight and became an emotional eater. I suffered bullying in my workplace on a daily basis and I felt like I had no control over anything in my life... That was definitely my lowest point. Josie taught me the value of quality nutrition and it’s relationship to training and I haven’t looked back! I was finally able to take control of the most important thing in my life and it has completely changed my outlook on health, fitness and mental strength. I am eating more meals than I ever have before, I am lifting heavier and I tell myself I am worth it everyday.I had just hit my fitness stride when I encountered a massive roadblock. I a suffered a severe back injury in April 2017. I went from being able to legpress over 100kg, deadlift and just generally being super fit - to doing single leg raises on the floor and not using any weights. I couldn’t drive, I couldn’t sit, I couldn’t lay down, I couldn’t play with my little nephew and I just felt broken. To say I was devastated would be an understatement. I felt that Josie could see me losing all mental resilience and patience for having to start from scratch. But she persisted, coached me gently and comforted me through tears and anger. It’s been a long road back but I’m finally shaping up and am more aware of my body than ever - my form has significantly improved so it’s been a blessing in disguise!Fast forward to now and I am staring down the barrel of another year of transformation. I know I have further to go but I am armed with knowledge, experience, Josie and I am EMPOWERED! Wish me luck!

I have been working with Josie at Fitness Addicts for over 2 years now. When I first started working with Josie I was a pack a day smoker who thought that if I went to the gym and did a work out It wouldn't matter if I called in and got a fast food meal on the way home for dinner as I had just "worked out". My cardio fitness was semi ok as I attended 2 to 3 sixty minute zumba sessions a week however my muscle strength was NON EXISTENT. I always thought that weight loss was based on how much cardio exercise you did and never thought that weight training and building a stronger core and back would actually help me overcome severe back and neck issues. Josie also encouraged me to join the group HIIT sessions she was running and showed me how much fun a proper cardio session can be when working out with others (Our boxing sessions are my favorite). In time with learning about how to correctly build my muscle strength up and attending 2 cardio classes per week I was able to lose weight and quit smoking to enable me to start IVF treatments and eventually fall pregnant in May of 2017. With Josie's guidance and expertise I was able to continue my workouts until 2 months before my due date..and once bubs was born I have been able to ease back into getting my fitness back post partum.Working out at the Fitness Addicts studio for the HIIT sessions 3 times a week is fun, each workout is different and we work up a sweat each time, but by working out with the other FA team mates we help, support and encourage each other to achieve our goals..all under the guidance of the best trainer around.
Patrick
Patrick’s story is a very special one. He used to be a very active kid and young adult. He used to play basketball and had a very active social life. As he got older his life took a more negative turn. He suffered from drug and alchol addiction. This lifestyle went on for many years. Years he can’t fully remember. All of this changed when his girlfriend at the time got pregnant and he lost his job due to his addictions. It was at this low point that he decided to grow up and clean up his act. He has been clean and sober ever since. As a single dad Patrick’s priority is to be the best role model for his young daughter. So a couple of years ago when his daughter told him he was fat he realised he’d let not only let himself become over wieght but become unhealthy as well, the result of a poor diet of pies, pasties, cakes and energy drinks. So Patrick took action and reassesed his lifestyle.Training with me for the last couple of years has given me front row seats to Pattrick's personal transformation. Patrick has gone from a shy, awkward man to someone who has regained his self confidence again. Patrick has managed to lose 20kgs to date with another 10kgs to go. Patrick is part of my The Body Project 2019 Transformation Team and I am honoured to share in his transformation, not only physical but emotional and mental as well.
